Shopping is my profession, it’s necessary to block out large sections of my calendar for the biggest shopping season in the year, and my personal favorite holiday – Christmas. The first day that gets blocked out of course, is Black Friday. Black Friday is, well… sport, for those of us who enjoy the finite details of shopping. There’s just something to be said about getting up at “O Dark Thirty” with girls and Starbucks. Yet I’ve found that over the past several years, that when it comes to actual purchases, I make more purchases for myself, in the first two weeks of November, than from Black Friday to Christmas Day.

Look for Brussels sprouts, chard, kale, leeks, pomegranates, cranberries. Also you can find warming winter root vegetables, parsnips, rutabagas, turnips and Jerusalem artichokes.
